  1. Graduate School Funded Fellowship Nominations

Nominations for Graduate School Fellowships are now being accepted for the 2023-2024 academic year. For eligibility, nomination information, and deadlines, please visit each opportunity listed on the Funding Sponsored by the Graduate School https://graduateschool.vt.edu/funding/types-of-funding/funding-sponsored-by-the-graduate-school.html page. Please note that, as of the spring 2023 graduate admissions cycle, the Cunningham Fellowship has been revamped to be a supplement to departmental funding, meant to enhance the appeal for the very best candidates. This restructuring will broaden the impact to many more students. We will be piloting the new structure this year, and the detailed procedure is the result of valuable feedback from Graduate Program Directors.

  1. 2022-2023 Graduate Student and Outstanding Mentor Awards-Updated Deadline!

Faculty and/or academic departments and programs may submit nominations for outstanding theses and dissertations; excellence in teaching or service; graduate student of the year; and outstanding interdisciplinary students. These nominations are now due by January 27, 2023, a week later than earlier advertised. In addition to these nominations, each college defines its own nomination criteria and selection process for identifying one outstanding master’s and doctoral student and outstanding mentor per college — notification of these winners are due by February 10. All winners will be recognized by the Graduate School during Graduate Education Week 2023, March 27-31. Visit https://graduateschool.vt.edu/about/awards/student.html to learn more about the process and timeline. Contact us at 540-231-9561 with questions.

  1. Graduate Student Exit Survey Now Live

After a brief pause this semester to undergo revisions, the graduate student exit survey is now live and available on the graduate student’s graduation checklist. This survey covers many aspects of the student’s experience such as career plans, how well-prepared they feel, as well as advising and assistantship experiences. Aggregated results from this survey are publicly available by college and program on the graduate school’s website. Please encourage your students to complete this survey!
