Deadlines & Dates to Remember

  1. Reminder: Assistantship Stipend Increase of 5% Approved for 2022-23

In April the BOV approved a 5% base stipend increase for graduate assistants (GAs, GRAs and GTAs) effective August 10, 2022. Departments should implement this pay increase when entering new contracts and PAFs. If PAF has already been entered into Banner with the old stipend rate, perform a status change to reflect the new stipend amount to ensure that students receive the 5% raise. There is no need to issue a new contract to reflect an increase in stipend. The new stipend table  (https://graduateschool.vt.edu/content/dam/graduateschool_vt_edu/assistantships_and_funding/2022-23StipendTable.pdf) has been posted on our website and is also available in the Assistantship Management Guide (https://sites.google.com/vt.edu/gradschoolresources/home). (Login with your VT Google credentials is required for access). The university will continue to provide an 88% insurance premium subsidy for qualifying graduate assistants who opt into the university-sponsored student health insurance plan.

As part of this national network, one of our goals is to complete an environmental scan of existing programs at Virginia Tech. Please fill out this survey to help us out: https://bit.ly/VTGradResources. If you know of others who could also add valuable insight, please feel free to share this survey with them. If you have questions, please email shernita@vt.edu .
