Join us at this year’s First Generation Graduate Student Connect Lunch with keynote speaker Jordan Laney, a Presidential Pathways Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow. 5. LITTLE HOKIE(TM) HAND-ME-DOWN – DONATIONS & PAPER BAGS NEEDED
VT Graduate School, Graduate Student Assembly, and the Women’s Center present the 5th annual Little Hokie Hand-Me-Down, designed to benefit Virginia Tech graduate students and families. How to Donate: Donations will be accepted Oct 29 – Nov 12 at the GLC Welcome Center (front desk) or at the VT Women’s Center (206 Washington St.) What to Donate: Gently used clothes, books, toys, bedding, medical supplies, school supplies, formula (unexpired), bathing & grooming supplies (unopened), strollers, car seats, baby gear, diapers, etc. Paper bags are also needed. Shopping Days: Students come by the GLC Multi-Purpose room Nov 13 from 12:00-6:00pm. Staff and students come by the same location on Nov 14 from 8:00am-12:00pm. 6. EDWARD BOUCHET HONOR SOCIETY NOMINATION
The Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society (Bouchet Society) recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and promote a diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate. 7. DIVERSITY SCHOLAR PROGRAM
Diversity scholars are graduate students who specialize in and advocate for the awareness, knowledge, and skills associated with diversity and inclusion in the Graduate School and greater community. 8. POSTER ABSTRACT REQUEST- ADVANCING THE HUMAN CONDITION SYMPOSIUM 
On Nov 28, ORDI and OID will host a research poster session on topics relevant to advancing the human condition. Interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary presentations across fields in the humanities, liberal arts, social sciences, sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, design, and health are welcome. Enter research projects at any stage, including formative, preliminary, in-progress, and completed. At least one researcher-presenter must be a currently enrolled graduate student. Abstracts due by Nov 15 11:59pm at www.bit.ly/humanconditionsymposium .Please contact Dr. Shernita Lee at shernita@vt.edu with any questions.
