Graduate School Website Update

The IT group in the Graduate School will be replacing the web management platform during an extended maintenance window this weekend.  The entire website, and related services, will be unavailable from 8am to 5pm this Saturday, November 23, 2013.

Please note that many URLs will be changing with the introduction of the new platform.  We understand that this is highly inconvenient, and appreciate your patience and understanding as we transition.  Most of the tools/applications will remain at the same URL, notably if they begin with https://secure.graduateschool…

Please keep an eye out for these link changes so that you can arrange for your website to be updated appropriately.

Given the time of year, I want to highlight a significant link update:
http://applyto.graduateschool.vt.edu/ is “the” link to use for referring perspective students to apply.

We are excited with the upcoming changes, and look forward to any feedback you may have.  Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!

Diversity Scholar Nominiations Open until December 10

Diversity scholars are graduate students who specialize in and advocate for the awareness, knowledge, and skills associated with diversity and inclusion in the Graduate School and greater community. A diversity scholar’s goal is to create dialogue, provide advocacy, and implement change for a more diverse and inclusive experience for all graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators. This involvement can take place in many forms and can be specific to a particular curriculum or department, or it can be more global.

Each diversity scholar will receive a one-time stipend of $300 after completion of the program. Additionally, if a student presents his/her project at a conference, the ORDI will assist with the conference fees and/or travel, with approval.
